SOS Message in a Bottle: Are You Listening, Premier Beattie?
Save Our Spit Alliance Inc (SOSA) today launched a Message in the Bottle to Premier Beattie, containing over 1000 letters from Gold Coast residents opposing the Government's plans to develop the Spit.
"The letters were sent to the SOSA website and reflect a local community SOS to a state government which seems not to be listening", said Steve Gration, President of SOSA.
Local Southport Labor MP, Peter Lawlor took delivery of the Message in a Bottle which he has promised to deliver to the State Parliament.
Save Our Spit Alliance Inc is holding a major public meeting to discuss the Spit issue this Monday 5 June at the Albert Waterways Hall, commencing 6.30 pm.
"All Gold Coasters are welcome to attend," said Steve.
"The community deserves the chance to hear what is really going on with the Environmental Impact Study and the flaws in the whole process. Lack of open, public, community consultation is but one of those flaws," he said.
SOSA is an alliance of community groups, businesses and individuals opposed to commercial development of public open space north of Seaworld Nara.
