Gold Coast dive companies Devocean Dive, Diving the Gold Coast, Gold Coast Dive & Kirra Dive have all come out publicly to reject the latest Leigh-Smith plans to develop a commercial marina and development in the Marine Stadium on The Spit.
"Marine Stadium is a beautiful lagoon fringed by white sands and causarinas and is open to everyone - boaties, swimmers, families, fishers and walkers - and it's in the very heart of our city. It would be a tragedy if it were lost to commercial development," said Shona Pinkerton of Devocean Dive. ...
Shona Pinkerton of Devocean Dive says "The Gold Coast Bulletin misreported Paul Matlock (Kirra Dive) and Peter Low (a local diver) in suggesting that they support the development of Marine Stadium. They do not and believe that there should be no commercial development north of Seaworld. The area there should remain free and open for the people- and that means all people."
